The last few days were hectic, as I was in the middle of my marraige ceremony, work, more work and arrangements for my marraige. I was avidly looking forward to 7th December, not not only because it was my honeymoon, but also that Kerala is beautiful. I had been to the beautiful state during my adolscent days; the memory of black roads and green serene countryside has still not faded. Like a true traveller I spent lot of time to browse through the destination I was going to- Munnar, Periyar, Kumarakom and Cochin. I consciously decided not to go to Trivandrum area, as Priya is averse to sea shores. Believe me if you were in my situation, you also avoid these potential hazardous risks.
So here I was on 7th sleeping away on the flight and woke up 10 minutes before the landing. Priya, was still sleeping. The view of cochin from the top was quite like the description- green, coconut trees, chinese fishing nets and very green.
I was still very unsure of how the trip would go. There was always a chance of not being perfect and honeymoon turning into a horror story. As my mind was going through these rambling adventure, I saw my name on a placard with "MakeMyTrip.com" as assurance. Ebby was our driver, sweet, mallu and could speak broken English. "I take you there", he said. Mr Himesh Reshamia featured on the background music. It was so far so good.
For a few hours me and Priya were lost in beautiful sorroundings. I was about to hold her hand that the phone rang. Some instructions and follow up on our safe landing. All's well she said and hung up. We had to go to a temple as an ode to our great start she said. But before everything was the Coffee... At Indian coffee house, and fries and Omlette. I was suspicious of it's quality, but then it was quite edible and coffee milky. And then the strange thought of Ebby riding away with all our luggage delighted me. We pad the bills and came out of Indian Coffee house in a hurry. Ebby was waiting outside and we started for Munnar.
It is a great story how did I get to choose Tall Trees in Munnar, which is my recommedation for anyone who has planned for a stay. Earlier I was plannig to stay in Tea County, a KTDC hotel, which was frequented by celebrities and Amitabh Bacchan. Even the rates were very very competitive. The third choice was for Club Mahindra Lake View Munnar Resort, an equally good property. The only problem was that it was away from the city, but in a peaceful environment. This was not enough to convince me of my perfect first day honeymoon. I searched thoroughly on HolidayIQ. Even this didn't do any good to help me select. My colleage Jeevan told me about Tall Trees and got me a great deal through MakeMyTrip.com that helped me zero in on a hotel. All this while I was travelling, but never in this planned manner. And hence my skepticism. However the property was brilliant and we had a great time.
